Journal 61: Film v Book

Today in Mr. Mccool's class, we watched a movie, but I forgot the name. The book name is call Hatchet. A boy was trapped in a wilderness. The differences between those two is the events in the book and in the movie is two different things. The first one is that in the book Brian planned to stop the plane on the lake, but in the movie he crash into the lake instead. There is also differences on that, the plane sank into the water, but in the book the plane did not sink at all. In the book Brain should get supplies from the plane, but he didn't. In the book, there is no parts that there are bears attack Brian. I think the best part of the movie is that when Brain is searching for food. He eat everything he can find, the scene was so cool when he eat them. I think the reason of Film and Book is so different because both of them has it's own way to be famous. Like in the film, Brian's plane sink in the water, so the people who watch movies will think that is a very awesome scene, but for readers they will think Brian plan land on water it's cool. Today we didn't finish the movie, so I don't know what else is different.

Journal 60: Hip-Hop Language

Walking around the street corner!
Yao!! What zup you guys!
To day, I was walking on the street corner!
Leta on there is two gangsta walking tours meh
They ask me if I have cigar
So I give them two cigar
They say:" Yo, bro thanks! Whats yo name!"
I say:" I don't wanna tell you, I am nobody!"
They think I am crazy and they walk away with ma cigar
I continue walking on the street corner!
There are one dudes walking tour me
He ask me:"Yo!Man! wanna join ma group!
I looked at him and say: " Nah! I 'm good!
He walk away!
I go to school and see my friends
The first person I see is Steven.
I ask him:" Yo! Steven, Sup!
He say :" Man, I 'm going to play wow and my character will be level 85 sooner, you mad bro?!
The next person I see is Vincent
I ask him:" Hey! Whatcha doing!
He say:" I am play Counter Strike Online Man!!, It's the best game EVER!!!
I also see Sean
I ask him: " Man what are you doing!"
He say:" I am studying history, it's ma favorite subject!!
I am Sad!! Everyone has things to do!!

Journal 59: Epic Language

Changing Led For Mechanical Pencil
I open my pencil case
I look at my new Mechanical Pencil, which I just bought it
It looks so beautiful and gorgeous
It's shiny at me
I'm going to use it for my homework
I was doing my homework as usual
Suddenly my homework stop working
I can't believe it
It's my mechanical pencil stop working
I observed my pencil closely
I keep pressing the button
It won't work at all
How am I suppose to do my homework without them?!
It's gotta work somehow
so I keep pressing
My finger was tired and full of sweat
I am still pressing
I went to my mother, she say she is busy cooking
I ask my father, he say he is busy working
I ask my sister, she say she is busy writing
I ask my brother, he call me stupid
How you gonna fix it, my brother?!
He take away my pencil, and take a small thing out of his pencil case
He open my pencil's lid, and put a long, thing, black thing inside the lid
I am surprised!
The pencil actually work!
I ask my brother how you do it, he say-
It's call Changing Led For Mechanical Pencil, you stupid!

Journal 58: Luck?

I think Brian survival base on his luck, because he is so lucky that he didn't die on the plane. Also he is not a pilot, but he can land his plane on water so perfectly.  He is also lucky, because he found that little lake and he don't have to worried about the water sources during the survival. When he wants to make fire, and he has no idea how to make them. He still got it, because he throw his hatchet to the porcupine. For me, I sometimes have some problem or etc. I always depends on my hope, like the night before tennis team, me and my friend always hoping it will rain. Whenever it rains, we will think we are lucky and we are happy. Also, when I didn't do my homework, I'm always afraid that the teacher will found out, but at the end teacher didn't check my homework, so I think that is call lucky. I think luckiness is very important, because when you don't have luckiness, you are nothing. Most things you do, you need luck, some people don't have luck, they went to temple and get bracelets or neck less, because they think that will give them lucky. I have wear one, but not for luckiness, it's protect me from bad things in this world. I think it work!!

Journal 57: What Makes Fire?

            Brian can't start a fire, because he did the rubbing wood things wrong, that is why he can't start a fire. How you do it was that you first find a wood block, and make a small gap in the wood block; and you take a wood stick and start rubbing the gap you make, but remember as you doing it put some dead leaves when you do it, so it decrease the time to make fire. As you doing it, when there is smoke coming out, you need to add leaves first to the smoke and cover them, as the smoke grow bigger, you decrease the adding of the leaves. When it starts burning, you add leaves, but also add some small wood branches. The fire will eventually get bigger, so you have to be patient. Making fire out of rubbing wood took long time, so you have to be patient. The other ways of making fire is that you can use rock and iron, if you have them. You rub iron and rock together, and it will makes sparks. Which is faster, and little dangerous, because you might hurt your hand. There is also a way, but it only work when you have a magnifier, or glass pieces. The time took in the morning, you need sun to help you with it. You first make a pile of leaves and you use the glass pieces and let the sun shine through them and it will turns to a point. That point is what all the sun light gather, because magnifier can gather sun light when they shine through them. You direct the point to the leaves and after a while, the smoke will start forming. Then you put leaves and woods make sure it start burning, This way is great qualities, but you have to make it in the morning and you have to guard them until night. Also it only works when there is sunlight. 

Journal 56: : Lost in the Woods

If I am lost in the wilderness, I will first look at what I have, or what did I bring with me. After I know what I bring, I would go set up my base first, such as tent, or a shelter. Than I will try to use my stuff to find water and some food. If I can't find them, I will go to set up the fire first, and trying to think of how to get foods and water and how to get home. The best environment to survive is that it better have a lake or pond beside me, so I can get water, swim, shower and wash my clothes. Second, it better have a tall strong tree, so if I set my base beside them, my base won't get destroy. Third, it's better to have some kind of berry trees, and the tress that has food on them. This environment is best to survive, it is so good that you don't even want to go home. If it's in desert, it will be hard to survive, because the most important things you need in the desert is water. If you don't have them, you can just kill yourself instead of trying to find a way home. The food you only can eats is cactus, or if you dare, you can eat scorpion and snakes. Which is disgusting but it's food. if i have 




What would you do if you were suddenly lost in the wilderness? Do you know any survival tactics? How would the environment affect your ability to survive? For example, how would being lost in a forest be different from being lost in a desert? Or in the mountains? Describe the place you are “lost,” and then describe step-by-step what you would do to survive and find your way home. 

Journal 55: Personal Assets

            Brian's Liabilities is that he is not train to live in wilderness. He never went to any camp like that . He is  a city boy, city boy has people take care of them, so Brian don't really ave that kind of experience. During the accident, Brian was afraid because he knew that he doesn't have any experience. Brain's assets is that he can remember stuff that his uncle, and the TV said. When he is in trouble, he would think of what his uncle says. He can figure out how to survive. In the book when he face problems he will say "My uncle say", or "the TV said". He is also a magical lucky dude. When he does something random, he can always find something new, through that "random move". Like when he throw the hatchet to the porcupine. He found out how to make fire because of the friction between the hatchet and the tree. I guess he could survive well in wilderness. For me, if I have to stay in wilderness, I guess I might not survive, but I like to watch "animal planet and also some TV shows  talk about wilderness. I also read books about living in wilderness. Also there is a TV show, that they tell you how to survive in wilderness, but my liabilities is that I might not have ability to do what I know.

Journal 52: You and Nature

I think that nature is good, but sometimes I afraid of nature, one times I was in 4th grade and me and some of my classmates like to kill mosquitoes that fly around in the bathroom. One times something happen and I never go to that bathroom again and I use that bathroom anymore. When lunch start we go to that bathroom and kill bus, but on time I was killing them and my head is looking around very fast and suddenly I see a black thing like two inches away from my face. I stood back because my hand is on inch away from the "black thing". As I jump and I saw what it is. It's a very big spider that I feel disgust and I feel sick. After that accident I still can't believe I almost touch a big giant black spider with my bare hand. The thing I afraid about nature is spider, because they look very scary when they walk and they look scary when they stay in one place. I watch movie that human kill by spider and I afraid of spider will get me one day in the future, so when I see a spider, I will run away or I will tell someone to help me kill it.
